Took the frog to the vet. Vet did a culture. Said he saw white blood cells and bacteria in the microscope so put him on cipro drops until culture comes back. Frog has edema on his back legs and seems tired. Can climb up the glass. But appetite is reduced.

We have renamed Brownie Uncle Fester. He is moving around more and cheerfully ate six two week old crickets this morning. Am hoping he will recover.

Uncle Fester is improving i think. He ate five crickets tonight and one of his really swollen back legs is almost back to normal size. Am still applying cipro drops twice daily and waiting for the culture results.

Culture for Uncle Fester showed acinetobacter, klebsiella, and morganella morganii, all susceptible to cipo. He is continuing to improve. Alert, eating lots, bathing. Wound is getting better and his swollen leg is slowly diminishing in size.

    Glad he is doing better!

Uncle Fester continues to improve. His back legs are close to normal size. His wound has nearly healed. He still has a lump behind the wound but it is getting smaller every day. His appetite is normalizing (instead of a dozen or more crickets each day, he is happy with five or six...used to get two per day). He is active, friendly, soaks, and looks much happier. Am still treating with several cipro eye drops on his wound and back to be absorbed through his skin twice per day.

Uncle Fester has his energy back. Is pretty fat and has decreased his cricket consumption. One back leg is still a little swollen so the vet changed him from cipro topical to oral baytril.
