What makes them "true toads"? Are toads like fire belly toads not real toads? If not, then what are they?

Can "non true toads" breed with "true toads"? Can they be cage mates if they are approximately the same size?
From my understanding a FBT is more frog like but called a toad. Similar to the spadefoot toads.

Are you considering keeping different toads together or are you just curious as to whether or not you can keep them together?

True toads some can interbreed with each other and a few other species but it's not recommended. It produces offspring that have a low success rate in living for a long life.
