Hi all, I finally got my pacman frog last nite... (woot woot!) I am so excited abt it!! The pacman is currently house in a 10 gal fish tank with roughly 2 inch of coco fiber substrate and moss to hold the moisture in... he is an albino and he is so cute~ I just can't wait to get off work now and go straight home just to see him!!
* As I am leaving for work this morning, I checked the tank... temperature is around 75 degrees but the humidity is very close to 90... is there anyway I can trip some percentage off from the tank?
man hes cute. well you shouldnt really have the moss in the tank with him some pacmans have ate it and suffered impact or even died from it. its a good thing to use to get the humidity up but not so good for your frog. if you do take it out and notice your humidity isnt around 80% or so then just get some plastic and cover the tank up with it but leave space for ventilation. and it wouldnt hurt to increase the heat to 85 also. if you need anything else just ask

85 is a little too warm 80-82 would be ideal. To lower the humidity, all you have to do is provide more ventilation.
@ noob: I have been hearing bad things about moss... is it really THAT bad? I still got a whole box of it.... my gf purchased it as a package along with the substrate and the guage
@ TJ: I currently have a fish tank top on there, I will cut the top for more ventilation... I guess I will need to get a heat pad eh?
well you can use it but i wouldnt at all it looks nice and everything gives nice humidity but i will never use the moss for my pacman or any other frog. just make sure that your substrate is nice and moist and just mist the tank.. if your humidity gets to low after taking out the moss just ger real plants to put in the tank that should get it around 80%
85 is pretty much the max you should have. i keep it at 85 and my pacman loves it i also got a thermometer in the soil and it reads 78 so im sure if he would get to hot he would dig and get out of the heat
Thanks for the suggestion!! I guess I'll see what I can do with the moss...
thx! thats sth to think abt~
wow looking at the pics you got the one that you can see his eyes he loos stressed. when ever my frog is stressed or upset his eyes get small like that and thats when i know to leave him alone
Should I get him the wall paper or no? How can I reduce his stress?
It does for alot of animals. Its a visual barrier. Its like a mime in a box. It will freak out more if it can see outside of it.
Just take jet black construction paper and cover the back, and both sides of the terrarium. I did this for my toad last night and it seems more relaxed. Also I did it for my fbts too. Good luck bro.
Thx deku, I'll go get some at petco tonite
I use moss on half my tank, but I don't feed in the tank... well crickets on occasion but not often. Tonight I added a shallow dish for mine so I can stop removing him from the tank. Not sure how well it will go over, as of now not too well, but he was fed prior to adding this and the extra worms.

They dont sell that at petco. Construction paper is pretty much something little kids use for arts and crafts. I think most houses have some. I know mine does. Go to walmart tonight/tomorrow or whenever and ask for construction paper. It comes in many colors and its cheap. I recomend you stick to these few colors:
-Black(personally I think is the best)
-Brown
-Grey
I mean you could buy a wallpaper but I think they cost more. I may be wrong.
How long does it take the frog to reach the worm? The worm could get out and escape onto the dirt. I recommend you either get a slightly deeper dish or just take away the worm when you arent there. Just a suggestion. I had a problem with mine when I used a dish. I mean she would take along time to figure out the worm was in there. So I dont know.
@ Deku: Petco was having a sale where its only 40 cents / foot, but I did a horrible job of cutting and fitting... loox like my gf can do the job when shes back from her business trip...
@ goreptiles: reason why i don't want to feed in separate tank because I don't want extra stress be added to him....
I tried earthworm that I purchased from petco but no luck, I guess I hafta call it a week and try next week... but now he burrowed himself deep under, what does that translate?
your frog diggin in the dirt doesnt translate anything just wait till he comes out keep misting. if your frog isnt moist enough or its to hot it will go in to a hibernation kind of state( cant remember the scientific name) and all that will tell you is to increase the moister in the tank. after a few months and your frog is about fully matured you will be the one giving advise because you went through it all lol
Aestivate or brumate.
