Sorry to hear about your frog. The reptifogger is a fairly simple machine, there isn’t much that could cause a chemical smell, unless it was an electrical short and had a distinct electrical burnout smell, and even with that there isn’t much of a way for the fumes to be that overpowering to the frog unless you had the fogger actually in the terrarium. If that were the case, a short would be expected due to the high humidity. They also don’t work well if you use anything other than distilled water in them, you end up with a buildup of minerals on the little pizo disc, then it may get taxed trying to function, overheat, and burn out the electronics inside. Maybe you could disassembled it and take pictures so we can all see what malfunctioned.
