It's a myth frogs just burrow underwater in muck. They hibernate in spots where the water continues to move and produce air flow. If no air flow and the water freezes the top the frogs and anything under the water will die. It's cool you made a natural pond!

Thank you - I really appreciate your advice! I didn't realize that freezing over would be so harmful or that air flow was so critical (although it certainly makes sense). I'll get myself a deicer.
