Dear Community.
Been away here for ages, for lack of time and trying to be more in "reality" instead of "internet land"
However I have a strange thing happening to my smaller male Bufo Alvarius male.
Ringo (his name) was born 08/2015, I raised him from 3cm toadlet size. He is doing alright and doesn't look or behave sick in any way. Instead of the blown up sound bubble/ throat.
Atm. most of the eight Toads I care for are not eating (which happens throughout the year, since they do not hibernate) - so Ringo doesn't eat. But he has been eating a few weeks ago, when the "blowing up problem" was smaller.
The air bubble unter his chin (vet and I guess that the sound bubble is filled with air) is growing for six to eight months now and looks atm. exactly how you can see it on the pictures.
I have another male who never had this, so it's definitely not normal.
I was at the veterinary doctor we have for the cats and he can't say what it is. We both guess from touching it that it seems to be aired up and not an infection. He advised to ask two specialists in Berlin - which I have done, but they are not answering. Will try to call them, too.
Ok, anyone any ideas???
Here are the pictures :

Ah and yes as you can see on the pictures- he still sheds himself properly. (just done when I took the pic).
I also uploaded a short video where you can see him (still) properly breathing even though of the inflated sound bubble....

Does no one have any idea???
For other people having this problem :
Turns out that it would take a surgery to precisely say for the vet what it is. He did an ultrasonic check and we tried medication for internal infections- which didn't help.
In the end he pulled the water (it was slight yellowish water in the internal "bubble") out with a syringe.
Will have to repeat this now as the only solution every few months. (stuff builds up slowly)
Ringo is relieved to get rid of the liquid and does eat and all. He is 100% fit and healthy besides this internal Bubble.
So a surgery is unneeded suffering and will be avoided.
Glad Ringo is doing better. Charming frog!
I owe you an update.
the whole problem is GONE. Pretty crazy.
Ringo is all well and shiny. I pulled the liquid out a second time after 3-4 weeks myself (fresh sterile needle for sure) and after that it never build up again.
the skin at his neck is also normal again and is not strechted anymore.
Wow, been going through some stuff with those guys, but they all are healthy and shiny and most of all seem to be very happy.
Toad Love to everyone <3
