Well, me and my tenacious hunt for pixie frogs ... have found an exporter from South Africa that will ship baby and adult P. adspersus to the states. Now for the details.
The exporter is from South Africa and would ship them by plane. The pixie babies are $20 each and adults are $40 each. Shipping would cost about $400. That shipping cost would be for almost any quantity we would want. There still may be some bargaining room in the individual cost, I will see, if we are interested.
So, just for the figures. If we were to order 20 babies, that would work out to be about $40 each without shipping in the states to members. I would have to check on the best safest way to ship in the states. 10 adults about $80 each. 20 babies+10adults about $30 babies and $60 adults.
BUT one of the biggest advantages of this purchase is that this would be 'original' stock from Africa.
I am waiting on final word from US Import/Export Div. They are checking on P. adspersus status. And we would have to see if there is enough interest to put all the funding together to take on this huge order.
I am still quizzing the exporter about exact shipping methods including packing, and am waiting on 'actual' pictures of some of the frogs they would be sending us. So, we can visually verify that they are adspersus.
Thanks for looking. We can see if this is even possible. It is a good deal, BUT a lot of money.
Cheers,
Jeff
I would be interested in 2-3 small ones...if you get enough to put this together.
Be very carefull guys there is a lot of mail order and internet fraud especially from Africa. Make sure someone that you can confirm has ordered from this person or company before. Verify the actual phone #'s are the same. Someone can say they are from ABC company but the phone number is to someone else. Its a lot of money if its a scam or they're not the frogs you expect them to be.
Some things you need to consider:
- African "exporters" are notorious for selling other species as Pyxicephalus adspersus.
- It's late winter in South Africa right now. Not many young Giant bullfrogs hopping around.
- Provided they export legally, you need to pay import fees and veterinary inspection fees at the port of entry in the US. This could mean some very expensive frogs.

I wish you the best of luck but I'd leave it alone. African suppliers are marking any African that leaves there as adspersus. That's what is in demand at the moment. They don't wanna pass up the ole American dollar. With my recent dealing, I actually saw the paperwork that was sent to the pet store where I bought mine and of course it stated adspersus. What the pet store received however was a dwarf variation. I wouldn't touch it.
