I read something online that said barking tree frogs will either have green or yellow under mouth if it's a male or female. But It didn't tell which is which sigh... Any info on how to tell the sex of American GTF would help![]()
Typical signs of tree frogs that are males are calling (obviously), darkened throats (grey, green, yellow, etc.), loose throats, change in colour in the thighs or somewhere on its back legs. Males can also develop rough nuptial pads in tree frogs but I cannot be certain because I've never had a barking tree frog. If you have a large specimen then it's usually a female.
