Hi everyone! Our daughter just took a friend's African Clawed Frog because the girl had forgotten to feed it too often and didn't want to take care of it. So, we want to give it (her?) a happy home.
We're new to this, and have done a lot of reading, but I really want to hear from people who know how we can take care of this frog! It is 8 years old, and so tiny! There are no black pads on the front claws or arms, so we are assuming it's a female.
The girl gave us frozen bloodworms, but we bought Reptomin and brine shrimp after reading. We put the frog in a 10 gallon tank for now with hiding places and large river rocks. The temp of the water is at 70 degrees at the moment. One eye seems to be messed up, too.
I attached photos of the 5 gallon tank where the frog lived for 8 years and some where it is right now. They aren't great, but hopefully it will give you and idea of where we started so you can let us know where to go next!
Thanks!
Well done for taking him on as he looks hugley malnutrition, suggest you try pellets with added calcium reptomin are ok but float and hes maybe not used to top feeding, but there are decent sinking pellets \i mentioned added calcuim its vital for there bone structure.hes going to need a fair bit of feeding which might be difficult on tank balance, do you know how to keep the tank balanced with correct PH are u intending cycling
please read through parts of this post and many before and ask questions on what your unsure its far easier than retyping all the bits of info required for there safe keeping
