Hello from Mississippi

Hi Guys,

I just joined today and I look forward to getting advice from more experienced frog parents. I have a bullfrog tadpole named Squish, who just started growing his back legs. Anyone else have a Bullfrog that they raised from a tadpole?

Hey and welcome. I don't know if there are any people, but you could ask around in the True Frogs section. I understand Bullfrogs are especially jumpy (heh) but many people keep them as pets.

Well he was a surprise pet. I found him in a minnow bucket from a bait store in March and decided to try and raise him. I knew he wouldn't survive long in the large lake we were fishing at and the bait stores use several different chemicals in the minnow water. So we stopped by the pet store after leaving the lake and bought him a tank and some décor. He's really a cool little guy and is doing really well in his 20 gallon tank. As weird as it sounds, I think he actually enjoys when I talk to him.

Welcome! I can't wait to see more photos of your bullfrog tadpole, and be prepared that these guys need a lot of work to be kept safely! (They can injure themselves in small enclosures when they reach a certain size). Be sure to post lots of photos and updates!

I definitely will! I have a new hideaway cave that is coming in the mail Wednesday so I will definitely take pictures of Squish in it. Right now he is only in a 20 gallon tank but as soon as he starts to develop front legs I am going to go buy at least a 50 gallon.
