    Smile Diseases and Vet trips

I have noticed that people often post questions about diseases, health issues and injuries. Obviously in these cases the best advice should ultimately come from a qualified exotics veterinarian who has examined the affected animal. Unfortunately very few people post followups after they see a vet.

Therefore I appeal for posts with outcomes after a trip to the vet. They should include the initial symptoms, diagnosis, results of clinical tests, treatment and outcome. Sharing information like this will benefit the hobby and allow us a greater understanding of what works and what does not.

I will keep that in mind. My own frog has some ongoing issues I'm seeing a vet about so it might take a while to get results to post.

Thank you elly for the reply. So far which species and what type of health issue are you currently dealing with?

The vet diagnosed my two white's tree frogs with nematodes after they stopped eating. Since then I've given them two rounds of medication and kept them in separate frequently cleaned hospital tanks.
I brought one sample from the little frog, Bonk in and it was clear, but they asked me to bring another sample just to be sure. The next sample showed a few nematodes. I haven't been able to take the other frog's poop for testing again, since he does it at inconvenient times when the vet won't be open for hours.
The vet said he'd have a conference with another exotic vet about what to do.

I wonder if the feeders could be responsible.

It's been a couple months since I dosed the frogs and I threw out the medication so I'm not 100% sure but I think it was diluted fenbendazole.

The frogs had initially stopped eating and had poor appetites while being dosed so eventually I decided to force feed them every 2-3 weeks when they didn't eat anything. I also dosed them with Fluker's Repta-Boost. I didn't see a boost in appetite from the Repta-Boost itself but after the second medication treatment they were back to eating more or less normally. I hope that continues.
