I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to use water from refrigerator to water and soak baby Pacman in? I have 2 Albinos and I don’t want to heart then in any way. Also how much Calcium do I use for them and how often? Thank you four your time![]()
I would still recommend treating the water. From speaking with a water purification engineer who works for 3m, many municipalities are now starting to use chloromines in their treatment systems rather than just chlorine since chloromines don’t break down as easily, meaning you can’t just let water sit overnight and have them dissipate, and most filters won’t take them out. Makes it much safer for human consumption through the tap as it will kill more harmful pathogens for a longer stretch along the system, but much less safe for our porous skinned friends. Another issue would be water temp, you wouldn’t want to soak them in cold water, the shock wouldn’t be good for them.
I heat it up before I use it. I don’t make it to hot tho. If I where to boil it and let it sit would that take out the Chlorine?
Chlorine is a fairly volatile substance, it will dissipate to the atmosphere or bind to other substances if you let the water sit for a couple of days. Heating it will speed the process. Chloromines are more stable chlorine compounds that will not dissipate so easily. For the health of your frog, just get some water treatment drops. I have 4 Pac-Man and 2 tree frogs, a large bottle of reptisafe cost about $9 and lasts me around 6 months, and I’m super liberal with it’s use. Small price to pay for some safety for your frog.
