    Default New to the forum

I finally joined a frog forum as i have been meening to for a while now. I currently own 4 pacman frogs 3 sub adults and 1 adult they are in a 75 gallon devided with plexy glass and hopefully will be moving them into a 125 as soon as i can. I also have a 10 gallon temporary set up until i move with 2 mossy frogs, a red eyed tree frog, and a fire salamander. I have been working on a 110 gallon community tank for a while now and it is finally almost done after buying about $300 worth of supplies. Some of my other animals include 3 bearded dragons, a ball python, a green cheek conure, 2 sun conures, 4 fish tanks, a koi pond, and lots of empty tanks. These are some pictures of my pacmans my adult high red is my pride and joy it took me a very long time to find one with as much red as he has. In the future i hope to have a dendrobates tank set up. I also work at a local pet store here in town but we dont really cary frogs. We hand pick all of our animals from reptile shows and hopefully i will be attending my first show in october at tinley in chicago.

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking frogs. I don't keep Pacman but I think the substrate to change to is Coco fibre/Eco-earth from what Ive heard. Thanks for sharing.

Cyprus mulch works just great for them. It stays moist, does not mold, its easy to bury in, it has very little dust, and is easy on their digestive system if swallowed. I was advised to use this by the vice president of a herpitology society that i work with who also works with the dnr doing surveys on frogs, lizards, turtles, snakes, and birds. He has kept reptiles and amphibians for over 25 years and curently has over 70 aquarium set ups and has tried every bedding available for animals and cyprus was the one he found to suck the least and kept his pacs in it for 15 years without a problem. also lots of reputable breeders will use cyprus for pacmans and other frog species. The breeder i know that i got my mossy's from uses cyrpus for all of his reptiles and amphibians except his dendrobates for those he uses layered substrate as will i when i set up a tank.

I've personally seen a large frog like these die from impaction caused by substrate, and I would never use substrate for them that has large pieces like that.

35 years ago when I was growing up I don't think my parents ever put my brother and I in a car seat...we survived. But we can all admit car seats are safer. You've got to at least admit the wood shards could be a choking hazard. And that's all anyone is saying. Its not an attack its just advise.
