Dumb question, I acquired two fire belly's from my son a couple months ago, he's had them appx. a year. I set up a nice 10 gallon tank, filter, rocks, couple live plants which is doing great. I'm not new to Reps. or Amphibians, but after a month or so, figured out I got two males since they both "bark".. One is more camo green on the top, the other is more darker green(brown), and it seems the darker one is getting very aggressive with "humping" the green one to a point where the green one is starting to hide. Does this ever stop with dominating another male? It's getting to a point where the darker one is chasing the green one around, pinning him down on the rocks, and constantly going at it, back, front, side, what ever area he can latch on to. The darker one is constantly after the green one. Is this normal behavior between two male FBT's? The one don't give the other a break for more than a couple minutes unless he hides. Both are eating, but the darker one is still more aggressive even when it's feeding time.
Separate them ASAP. In the confines of a 10 gallon the weaker frog will stress out. Male on male Amplexus is not uncommon in frogs and toads but there may be other more subtle behaviors going on.
