I liked the dramatic toad glare at the end. Were the bricks being used to hold something in place while it dried?

No I used the bricks for a type of false bottom and put pond liner to hold the substrate. I have used various false bottoms but I wanted to just use the bricks to lift the substrate layer so this way my pump can drain the water out before it would get flooded.
