I have a froglet that might either be a bullfrog or pig frog. Does anyone know of a good tank setup/diet for pig frogs?
A semi-aquatic set up works well for the typical Ranid. See the fire-bellied toad article for that. Pig/bull frogs get big and are much more powerful jumpers than fire-bellies, on top of that they can be very skittish, so keep that in mind when selecting a permanent home for your frog.
You frog should eat just about anything that moves and that will fit into its mouth. Crickets and roaches make good staple diets. Waxworms are high in fat content and meal/superworms are high in chitin, and so these types of feeders should be used sparingly. Remember to dust all food items with vitamin and calcium supplements, because no feeder insect is nutritionally complete.
Thanks! I was wondering,do the crickets drown in the water? Or do the frogs eat them quickly enough before they get the chance?
Yes, crickets drown quite easily. It may be a good idea to either feed in a seperate enclosure or put the crickets into the frogs enclosure one or two at a time.
Thanks so much, for all the help you've given me!
