Default How Fine Should Charcoal Be in Substrate?

I am wanting to add charcoal to my snake's and frog's substrate, but I'm not sure how fine to make it. I Obviously don't want my animals to inhale it, but i don't want huge chunks either. It'd be nice if someone could post a picture or describe it. Thanks!

You can purchase organic horticulture charcoal that’s generally the size of aquarium gravel. Serpa designs has a good video on YouTube regarding charcoal use in bio active vivariums. It’s best used incorporated into an ABG mix on species where you seldom if ever change the substrate. I’m not a fan of bio active systems for snakes for a number of reasons but your treefrogs will likely benefit from the addition.
