Hello everyone,
I have my FBT for over a month now, and when I purchased him I made sure I chose the most vibrant green one, and he's remained that way up until a few hours ago. Even this morning when I checked on him he was his usual green, but just now I noticed he's a much dark green-almost brown-now. I've researched, and as far as I can tell it's a minor thing but it's still stressing me out. Some people said is because of loneliness, or discomfort, which could be the case because I only have one FBT (hopefully more soon!). Others said is was camouflage that he can activate at anytime (but why now?). One guy said it was that it means they are shedding. Which is it, and should I be worried?
I would not be worried. My FBTs color fluctuates regularly, and actually they are more dark green than they are bright, I've had them for about 5 years now. It could be caused by any of the things you mentioned, but I have noticed that after I clean my tank and put in all new fresh water, or after they've eaten a bunch of gut loaded crickets dusted with vitamins they turn pretty vibrant.
Thank you for replying. This post go many views but no replies until nowMy FBT is back to a lighter shade now. I don't think it was anything to worry about. Do you think I need another toad or toads? Thanks.
