I've stumbled on a toad that I dont quite know the species of, I have an idea but the coloring on the back legs is throwing me off, I was hoping someone could help me out so I can properly list this little one in my book.
I'm probably just overthinking it but I would like to get others opinions!
It would help to know where it was found.
Mount Morris Michigan is where it was found
In that area, I believe the only native toad is the American toad- and that is what yours looks like.
The yellow legs are unusual, though. There can be quite a bit of color variation with this species.
I believe it to be a fowlers toad(anaxyrus fowleri). The pale stripe down the back and the coloration seems about right and they are found in Michigan.

This toad looks around 1 year old or a little more but is a Fowler's Toad. Where did you catch this toad? That may help like was it by water or Sandy shores or in a field?
