    Default Fertilizer spikes

Is it advisable to use Jobe's or other fertilizer spikes in a vivarium that houses amphibians?

I’d advise not to use any fertilizers. Most vivarium plants thrive in soil that is nutrient poor anyway. Fertilizers are directly related to amphibian decline in the wild so incorporating them into a closed vivarium system is likely to cause death or significant health issues. If your goal is to stimulate plant growth proper lighting is the key. A good led light with a color temperature near 6500k will accomplish that easily. Fluval manufactures a few models for aquariums that can be used with vivariums. I use their fresh and plant model and have had amazing results.
