    Smile Baby Pacman Frog Questions

    Hi everyone!
I am planning on getting my first Pacman frog in the near future, but I have a few questions first.

    1. The frogs available at my local reptile show are babies about the size of a quarter. I know for adult pacman frogs, ideal tank size is about 10/20 gallons. For a baby this small, would it be okay to start off right away with the 10 gal or should I keep it in a smaller enclosure (critter keeper, etc) until they reach a larger size?
    2. I've read that babies this size should eat about 5-7 times a week. For a diet of mainly crickets, how many crickets should be fed to the frog at each feeding? Also, should the crickets be calcium dusted for each feeding or every-other feeding?

I was thinking of starting with the 10 gal and tong-feeding the crickets while the frog is still small to ensure it is able to get the food. Let me know the best way of starting things off right for the frog!

Hi, for a baby I would recommend starting with a smaller tank like the critter keeper until the frog gets a little bigger. The issue with the bigger tank is that 1. it might stress the frog out, and 2. it's hard for them to catch their food in such a big enclosure when they are so small. The two links below are a dusting schedule and a Pacman care sheet that should be helpful!

Starting a baby pac man frog out in a large tank is not a good idea, a smaller tank or deli cup allows the frog to find food faster. I use pre punched 6 3/4" deli cups with around 2" of moist coco fiber(eco earth) I like the high humidity which helps with shedding.Tiny babies like you would find at a show would be happy to get 3-4 crickets a day, make sure they are not to large.you can dust the crickets around every third feeding.don't try tong feeding a baby wait till it gets bigger.temps are important keep away from A/C.

Do not handle a baby frog, let it start feeding and settle into its new environment.it may not eat every day and that's ok.
