Default Oops I got another one...

I was studying for a test last night (No way I'm gonna pass it lol) when my neighbor called that she had a HUGE toad in her garage. I got up and went over to go see it, and I saw a tiny 3 inch male American toad. I as simply going to put him in the grass and let him hop away but he had some really interesting coloring. If you're looking down at him and he's facing forward, his right side is normal brown with an ever so slight bluish tint. His left, however, fading from brown into a cream with black spots and stripes. The black markings on his face are very bold too, and I knew I had to keep him. I think I'm going to let him hibernate so I can breed him. I'm at school and don't have ay pics I can post, but I put him on my Instagram story if you want to see him. My account is @animallover3541

Of course! I just had to get to bed so I wasn't able to take any pics and save the to Onedrive. Hoping I can find other cool toads with morphs. Only albino, xanthic, luecistic, and other whitish color morphs are allowed to be bred and sold in Indiana.

Cool! It's really awesome that you took the time to read the restrictions/rules where you live. I don't know what the restrictions are here in Texas but it would be really interesting to breed toads! I've found wild pairs of Gulf Coast toads in amplexus but I've never managed to get them to breed in captivity. Good luck with finding another colorful one!

The restrictions kinda suck here. I can't own more than 4 individuals of each non game species, and I have a total of 6 tadpoles (I'll rehome them or just go ahead and keep them anyways). I can own up to 50 game frogs (green frogs and bullfrogs). I also can't buy native species from other states without a permit. You can legally keep tiger and bears and stuff here but not multiple native species. I understand why though; I just wish the restrictions were a little less strict.

Well I guess I was wrong about part of that. You need a permit to release a frog bought from another state. The rules are still horribly strict.

Anyways, sorry I haven't gotten around to getting pictures of the little guy. Hasn't eaten yet (to my knowledge). I'm currently towards the end of my 7th period class and I'll try to take pictures as soon as I get home. I wish I could spend everyday with my herps!

That looks like a female toad. What state do you live in?
