Default Would hardware store clamp lamp be ok to use with UVB bulb?

I recently got a tiny baby red eared slider form my little sister's friend. She was going to release it and even though it was wild caught and native here I figured he'd be better off if I took him in. I am broke and needed a cheap alternative to a reptile lamp and wondered if a UVB bulb would get too hot for a lamp with a plastic socket? I really appreciate the help! Thank you!!!
