water changes

How often and how large of a water change do you do? I did 50% but I dont know if my main goal is just adding fresh water and waste removal or if I should drain compeletly to get their toxins out of the water...

It’s a 20 gallon water/land set up. About 3/4 water with a turtle dock attached to the divider as a transition.

I try to do weekly water changes for my American bullfrog that are about 50% but I forget a lot of the time.
