I have three fire bellied toads in a 10 gallon aquarium, and all three of them have been displaying nocturnal behavior for some time now. I got them in August of 2017, and I only really see them in the morning when I wake up (around 6 AM) and really late at night. Otherwise, they're in one of the two hides I have in the terrarium all day. I've read on various sources they're mostly active and diurnal creatures, so I'm a little confused and concerned. Is it just because of the current season? Any replies are appreciated![]()
Not sure. Do you have any lighting set up for them or do they have visual access to a window?

I would say that mine, right now, make more noise at night than during the day.
I'd also say that they are about equally active during the night versus the day as far as moving around.
Just add cricket to activate frogs.
I have a 5.0 UVB light that I use during the day (about a 12-hr cycle), and they’re next to a window that I always keep closed and the curtains drawn so no natural light comes in. I have to say, though, in the time that's passed, they’ve gradually become more active during the day, so maybe it was just the time of year.
