I wouldn't call it dirty. Sure they track stuff in, but its not dirty. Its clear and not cloudy.

Heh! They love to make big poops in the water bowl! A little soil tracked in is okay but great big turds; I just can't abide that, and must immediately change the water! This is the only water they have, unlike being in a big pond or creek where the poop wouldn't matter that much.

Yeah, change the water out when they poop in it, but no real need to when its just a little bit of dirt.
