I got my first RETF a week ago now and I'm a bit nervous she isn't okay? Maybe it's just their behavior but I also own whites tree frogs and i think that is throwing me off a bit with possible conflicting knowledge. I got my first RETF a week ago and after a few days she still wasn't settled in, I've covered three sides of the tank so that she doesn't have as much surroundings to take in, after a few days of really no movement she she'd so I thought maybe that was the cause of her behavior, however like I said, I'm not sure what the behavior is supposed to be, all she seems to do is be sleeping on the glass 24/7, not eating or moving much, is that just their behavior or should I be concerned? It's 7am when I'm posting this so she should really have been awake but nope she still is just asleep but I did notice she moved to the other wall , the temp currently is 24 degrees Celsius (7am in the UK) and goes to about 28 ish in the day and about 74 ish humidity, should I be concerned or is this wither normal behavior or is she still just settling in? I'm using a uvb bulb in the canope and a night time purple heatbulb in an overhead dome light![]()
hope the pictures loaded because I'm on mobile, tank size is 30x30x45
Just by judging by posters who talk about their red-eyes here it seems that red-eyes are more nocturnal than white's. Is there any way you could leave insects in a steep bowl overnight and see if they vanish? Or are you already doing that?
It may just be settling in. If there's no change I might try a heat emitter instead of a light to see if the frog's sensitive to the lighting. (Just a hunch.)
I don't own any RETFs, but I agree with elly and also think your little guy may be settling in. The fact she moved from one wall to another is good, so at least you know she's moving around. A good way to keep an eye on your frog's health is tong feeding them, let's you see how interested they are in the food, get a good look at their physical condition, and then you can be 100% positive they are getting what they need, too.
