Hello,
I'm new here and I have a few questions. I have a ten gallon tank Which is going to be mostly land with a six inch corner water bowl for them to dip in.
How many frogs can I keep in a ten gallon fish tank?
What kind of live moss would do best in a tank this size?
What kinds of small live plants would do best in a tank of this size?
Should I get a heat pad to put on the bottom of the tank?
Thanks!
Fire belly toads are highly aquatic animals so I would definitely consider providing them with a larger water area.
2 frogs would be the absolute max. for a 10gallon tank IMHO, it's definitely on the small side.
Growing mosses in a vivarium setting can be quite challenging. Moss needs more light than you would expect. When provided with sufficient lighting and water many mosses will do fine in a vivarium all tough it's often a hit and miss process selecting the right type. Many people have had good results with java moss, which can be easily obtained from aquarium stores.
I don't know so much about plants but there are many that will thrive in vivarium conditions. Look for plants that stay small and can appreciate the high humidity.
When kept at room temperature the toads won't need any extra heating.
Thank you so much for your reply. I ended up getting a 40 gallon tank and just set it up two days ago with live moss and I will be buying a bigger water bowl for them to dip into.
I'm attaching a pic of the tank. Any suggestions would be appreciated![]()
