Hi-
I will post in more detail with photos ASAP, please excuse my lack of introduction -
I have a decent amount of experience with animal husbandry, and know basic requirements for the frog- we purchased a "Pacman frog" at a reptile show last weekend and he immediately developed a cloudy eye and what I am relatively sure is a bacterial infection.
He is reluctantly eating, I have very well gut loaded insects for my panther chameleon and he is taking at least a orange head or dubia roach every day.
I need an antibiotic ASAP and can't find any obvious ones to try. I am considering Maracyn Plus or Furan 2.
Can anyone advise on what to try until I can get in touch with a vet on Monday? I need to start something immediately.

I had to do some tracking down, but here is a thread I was involved in. I would suggest you use the Ciloxan 0.3 that monster recommended. Since then I've found quite a few records of it being used and working. It'll probably require a prescription. If it comes down to what you can get now, Maracyn would be my recommendation. I'm not sure it's worth getting, considering the lower effectiveness of maracyn compared to ciloxan and the fact that you'd only be using it for a day before switching to another medication, although speed in treatment is also imprtant. I just hope your frog gets better. Good luck!

How about Melafix?

I did some reading. I found plenty of stuff saying it's safe, but impoper mixing ratios can 'burn' frogs, and I couldn't find any concrete sccuess stories of using it on eye infections.

What kind of doses do you use for the Maracyn though? Just for personal reference.
Get Gentamicin Sulphate drops. They are very safe and already prepared. 1 to 2 drops every 4 hours.
Sorry for the late reply, hisk. I'll look into dosage. Ive never had to use maracyn, so I'm actually not sure myself.
