I was wondering if it's okay to feed them in a separate place because the crickets just seem to hide in the tank, I wasn't sure considering the fact you can't really touch them. I was also curious around what time they get up and become active and if the tv bothers them. Thank you in advance
Red eyes are nocturnal, though I don't think they have a set schedule. They get up at different times. I know some people have said theirs seem to be distressed and do more nose-rubbing if their cages don't get dark at night, so that's possible.
If you had the TV running loudly at all times it could stress them out but a little while, especially in daytime shouldn't hurt. You could always cover the tank.
One thing you can do to feed them is to get a bowl with steep sides about two inches plus tall to put crickets in. Most crickets won't be able to escape by jumping straight up.
I thought of the bowl but I thought they would jump out or climb out. I also have a moonlight bulb for heat and a little viewing, does that disturb them? I use a 40 watt but might have to get a 60 watt because it doesn't seem to get warm enough
If the sides are smooth and it's high and steep enough not all of them will get out. I've seen one post where the person thought the moonlight bulb might be disturbing their red eyes. I say maybe watch the frogs and see if they rub their noses on the glass a lot.
Thank you, one more thing, I heard you can use distilled water, treated tap or regular bottled water like from a grocery store, is this correct?
Distilled water can be used for misting, but I wouldn't use it constantly in an amphibian's water bowl. It can leach minerals out through their skin.
Okay so bottled water is okay, thank you for the help
