Default I need help (newb alert)

My boyfriend just bought me a dumpy tree frog. He is the cutest little thing, but I have no clue what I am doing right and or wrong. I have him in a rubbermaid container that i have standing up so that it is vertical so he/ she has more climbing room. There is some wood in there, a few fake plants, a water dish. I am scared to put bedding in because he/she may eat it and get impacted plus he is almost never in the bottom of the cage. I mist him a few times a day and have a humidity gauge in there.

So my question is what else do I need for my little guy?
    What am I doing wrong?
what humidity level should it be at?

I am not sure about feeding it,

    • whats the best thing to feed it?
    • how often?
    • how many?

    Any other advice?
Sorry for all the questions I just need to know what is best for my little frog. I have read lots of stuff about him, but i thought actually hearing what frog experts have to say would be better than just random things on the internet, plus most of the care sheets say different things.
    please help

I'm far from an expert but know that tree frogs need good ventilation. A good terrarium would be an exo terra one (glass, with a mesh lid). You're right in thinking that they prefer a vertical set-up. He'll also need a dish of water treated with a dechlorinating solution (as should your spraying water be). A good temporary substrate would be damp kitchen paper (needs changing regularly!)
They'll eat crickets/locusts/wax worms(high in fat, more a treat than a staple!)/roaches and also meal worms (which are high in chitin which also causes compaction!) so should be fed sparingly.
Food should should also be dusted with a calcium supplement (not entirely sure how often, mine get it once or twice a week!)

Phew! Hope that's a bit helpful! Sorry for any spelling mistakes/bad grammar, I'm half asleep lol

Dumpy Tree Frogs are also called White's Tree Frogs. We have a very detailed care article for this species with everything you need to know. It is linked on the left of every page of the site and also in the Care Info pulldown menu of every page.

Hi. Welcome. I'm glad you are now the owner of a White's, and that you are enjoying him. They are so cute. How big is your new frog?

I agree that you need to have some ventilation. A mesh covering would help with this.

I believe for juveniles you want to dust each meal, and for adults a couple times a week is sufficient. If we knew the size or age of the frog, we could better answer how often and how much to fee him.

Feel free to ask any other questions that you may have.
