    Heat pads are often not recommended for frogs. The reason for this is that many burrowing frogs dig down to escape heat. With a heating pad below, some frogs/toads may burrow down to cool off only to encounter heat. Another option is to mount the heat pad on the side, but I've found that doesn't heat the enclosure much.
    Most people use a ceramic heat emitter or a heat bulb, but it's actually more complicated than you might guess. You don't want a basking bulb, because they are made to provide powerful heat to a specific area for reptile basking. A normal heat bulb is better frogs and toads. Basking lamps are a bit much for animals that like slightly moist(or moister) environments, since it dries out wherever it points pretty quick and is just plain too hot.
    (You probably meant heat bulbs in general by basking lights, but I felt I had to clarify lol)
