I found this little guy last night. Was hoping to get an idea as to what kind it is and how to care for it.
Hello, im not sure what kind of frog it is because i only keep horned frogs but it looks like some kind of tree frog. Someone should come around that can give you a forsure ID on it for you. For the time being though if you plan to keep him I would change those rocks out for some kind of cocofibre substrate or something similar and maybe put some sticks or plants in there so he climb up on them. If you put crickets in there for him he is bound to pick up a couple of those rocks and ingest them and that could lead to some serious health issues. And you could just put a small water bowl of some sorts when you change the substrate for him to sit in. Hopefully someone will see this soon and be able to tell you what you found.
It's a Spadefoot toad- it appears to be a Couch's Spadefoot.
They are seldom kept in captivity, so I doubt that there is much care info available.
They spend most of the year buried underground, and emerge during the rain.
If you decide not to release it where you found it, keep it in a deep substrate of soil/coco fiber mix (not gravel). Give it a shallow water dish and live invertebrates.
Wow that's a very nice looking toad. I figured maybe it was a tree frog from those big eyes, learn something new all the time on this forum. I only keep horned frogs so I was totally just guessing.
Thank you so much for the info!
Here's at least one care guide to get your started

Interestingly enough, I have just returned from a trip to Arizona. It is monsoon season there, and I saw lots of toads, including Couch's spadefoot. Lots of them. I even found a breeding congregation of them in the desert.
They are neat toads, and I found myself wishing that I had space for a few. Maybe next time.
