Ok! I have heard people checking their frogs For problems and things.. But.. Im kinda nervous to pick my guy up! Lol! Im afraid that he Will get something from me or that i wont keep him moist enough in my hand, or that he Will eat my finger o.O Or that I'll pick him up wrong and hurt him, or that he will hop from my hand! ACK! so many things running threw my mind.. HELP!!!!!!!!
I was reading some old posts and someone advised to wash your hands, and mist them with spring water before you pick them up/move them.
Yeah i know to Wash your hands lol but not to mist them Directly. Lol i guess its just a First time frog owner jitters.
Get some non-powdered latex gloves.
Some pacman frogs are aggressive, and some aren't. My 3 aren't. When I need to pick mine up, I gently lift them up from behind with one full hand underneath so my fingers aren't near their mouth. I usually only hold them for a few seconds while moving them to a temporary container during cage cleaning etc.. Putting them in a small clear sandwich container or something like that, will allow you to examine them without having to hold them long. When moving them, just don't hold them in your hands far above the ground in case they squirm free. That way there's no falling danger.
Do you think I Could put my hand Close To him and gently nudge him with my other Hand to force him to hop onto it? or would that Cause stress?
You could try that.
When I nudge mine from behind, they just jump forward. But I have seen some that puff up and get all aggressive and bitey, lol. Which would definitely be a sign of stress.
I guess the only way to know is to give it a try.
Thanks For the help! last time i Scooped Him up with a Piece of Cardboard! But he is lively And As Soon as i Put him on the bed on his Moist towel.. he started Hopping in all Different Directions!!! It was crazy!
Remember, for the most part frogs are look but don't touch kind of pets. But some frogs do get use to it more than others. Give him time to get use to you and if you see improvement over time that's great but if not and he still freaks out don't push it. My frogs have gotten more use to me over the last couple of years but I still have one Fire Belly who looks at me like I'm going to eat him every time I put my hands into his cage. He doesn't run and hide but he is still not sure if I'm a threat. So I don't pick him up. I have others who don't mind the attention.
