Hi, this is my first post here at Frogforum. My local aquarium store got a shipment of "rice paddy frogs", or "floating frogs" in stock, they looked so neat, I just had to buy a pair & set them up in a brand new tank. One of them, a little green guy is very cool & just perches on his rock or branch, taking it all in. The other, a brown frog is very skittish & jumps away whenever I approach the tank. Consequentially, the brown frog has hidden from me the last two times I've feed them, while the green frog has eaten all of the fruit flies. Any advice on how to feed a skittish frog, or how to get him used to his new enviroment?
Hi there phillyfrogfan and welcome to the forum. It can take a while for new frogs to settle in and get used to their new home. With this frog being so skittish he will probably only eat at night when the lights are out and he/she is feeling safe.. So before you go to bed put in some food and hopefully he/she will relax enough to eat them. Just give them time though and the hunger will eventually get the best of him/her.
Could you please post your location as it will help us to help you.
I would do as Ebony suggests but if that doesnt work maybe you could remove the more aggressive one out of the tank to feed the other one so it has a chance to get some food itself.
