Toads in window wells

First off I had no idea what a window well was until I looked it up on Google just now! The ones I saw looked very vertical, so you might want to add a ramp, since it sounds like if you move them more will just end up there. You may wish to place a clay pot with a hole in it down there, perhaps with a water dish inside or next to it, if you're trying to make their lives more comfy. Hope this helps.

They are not going into the window wells intentionally.
When a toad encounters a wall, it travels along the wall, until it falls into a window well. Once there, it is generally trapped until it dies.
The toads should be removed. A better solution would be to install window well covers, so they cannot fall in them in the first place.
