Hi! Toads are frogs from the family bufonidae, it is often explained by saying that "all toads are frogs, but not all frogs are toads". Toads are species adapted more to terrestrial life, with dry, warty skin and shorter hind legs. Many species of toads are borrowers, and love digging much more than most other frogs. Both frogs and toads are very widespread, and most toads, like other frogs lay eggs in water that turn into tadpoles, but after changing into frogs, or in this case, toads, the toads spend more time on land rather than in the water.

"Toad" and "frog" are just words; they are not taxonomic designations. There is no black and white distinction between the two. They are both used to describe members of the Anura. In general, toads have dry warty skin, while frogs have moist skin. But frogs and toads are not distinct groups of animals, and the terms "frog" and "toad" are not assigned in any real scientific fashion. A good example from the US would be the common names "narrow mouth toad" and "sheep frog". Both are members of the family Microhylidae, both are similar in appearance, yet one is called "toad" and one is called "frog". When you get into taxonomic groups outside the US, the line between frog and toad becomes blurred even further. That is why it is important to use the scientific names of species; they are more specific, more accurate, and have more meaning, than common names.
