    Default Need help with setup!!!

Hello, so I am getting two Whites Tree Frogs, and I need some help with heating. I have two bulbs at the top, that do not produce much heat at all, and are used for vitamins for the frogs. I was going to get a heat pad, but after some research I realized ALOT of them were catching on fire and burning the tank and frogs. I don't know what to do now, and don't want to take the risk of a heating pad. Also, I need some substance for the bottom of the tank, and do not know which one would be the best. Thank you so much for your help!

Heat mats are ****, many frogs prefer to bask under a heat lamp and from what I've read, these are one of those who do.

I'd recommend you read Popular tree frogs from De vosjoli, Mailloux and Ready,
Amphibians in Captivity by Marc Staniszewski.

To get the heat you need, around 25-40w incandescent heat bulb direct at a branch should do. Check temps to make sure they're right with a digital thermometer. You can use a thermostat to control heat.

Also, sorry for so many replies, but do you recommend any lightbulbs for them? Thanks in advanced! ^-^

Thats fine haha! I use Zoo Med daylight blue heat bulbs with all frogs I'be kept, they seem to last long and don't produce too much heat. The wattage you need will depend on enclosure size and room temperature, so some experimentation will be needed. This is for your heat but you should also include a 5% (5.0) UVB for the frogs to make vitamin D3 to absorb calcium. It seem most recommend temps 75-85F (90F max), with the highest temp of this range at your basking area and with a drop at night.
