    Default POSSIBLE BLOAT IN AFCs?

I have had my afc's for about 6 months. I have two females and one male. All are albino. I thought they were doing well. However I am reading all of this information about bloat and getting very worried. I am trying to send pictures 2 show you what I mean. Do I need to start salt bags on the females?

    Hi Cindy
Am no expert but will chip in with what little knowledge

Was the extra bloat sudden or slow, does the frog feel soft/squidgy
The back legs bloating are usually a giveaway for dropsy apposed to the body
Females can be double the size of males she looks healthy enough to me
If dropsy was happening you would know fairy quickly
How much and how often are you feeding,I would not feed everyday

Thank you for your input Craig. They seem very healthy. They obviously eat very well. I do feed them daily. Morning and evening. Small amounts of pellets. I do give them Cricket's occasionally. I have not actually pick them up and felt them lately but I will do that.

I don't think your frogs have bloat, but you should watch them closely. Don't handle frogs with your hands. The skin is very slippery and contains a slime that protects them from disease and injury. Bloat is caused by an osmotic imbalance due to improper water conditions. Keep your frogs in clean, conditioned water and at a temperature of 70(F). Higher temperatures will cause illness or even death. Properly cared for your frogs should live 10-15 years or more.
