    Default Tank temperature strange

Hello,so I just recently got a pacman frog and I'm having some trouble with the heat, so my thermometer says it's 75 Fahrenheit but whenever I put my hand it feels some what cold with little spots of heat I'm also using a zoo med small rain forest heat matt with and 10 gallon tank.

The frog itself seems to be very active as he's been all around his vivarium today

Could this be because our bodies are at a higher temperatures so we don't feel the heat as much as the frog would?.

Sorry if this sounds a little dumb but it's worrying me, thanks in advance

You're right, it doesn't feel warm to us since we're warm blooded. Heat pads actually heat the glass surface to quite high temperatures, so they should be controlled with a thermostat. I have measured some heat pads at 100F directly on the heated glass. Since your little guy will burrow, place the thermostat below the substrate directly on top of the mat. It should be set to about 84F and the top of the substrate should be reach 75F. I take it you mean the Exo Terra heat waves? These heat up to 85F but I would never use them. They are prone to fail and develop hot spots, see it all the time on the forums. Go for high-quality habistat or microclimate heat mats made in the UK

Thank you for the quick response, I will definitely try to get one of those heat matts as my frog's well being means a lot to me and my tank also has those correct temperatures. Thanks again as I no longer have to worry
