I dont think four pinkies a week is enough for my pixies should i increase or decrease? should i change their diet?
African Bullfrogs, Clawed Frogs, Salamanders, Newts, Bearded Dragons,
I know I'm not the only one who's going to tell you this, but mice are a once or twice a month treat for a pyxie, because of how fattening they are. Night-crawlers, crickets, and roaches are the best to feed on a normal basis.
even the little pinkies?
African Bullfrogs, Clawed Frogs, Salamanders, Newts, Bearded Dragons,
Yup, still very fattening.
Can you give us a little back ground information on your pixie? Like age, size, past feeding schedule and items.
Then it would be easier to give you some pointers.
Any tips on how to get them to eat mealworms or smaller prey. Mine seems to only like huge nightcrawlers so far.
He looks and stares crickets/mealworms them but then nothing. Mealworms try and burrow as soon as they hit the substrate.
Also he doesnt seem to want to eat in a feeding container.
Pinkies are even more fattening than adult mice.
Malachi, Sounds a little like your pixie is training you. This can happen with all pets.
I use to feed my pixies in their cage, but now feed in a wash tub or 10 gal tank. If you really are having a hard time feeding in the 10 gal. you can cover the sides with paper to block out distractions.
I think if you keep trying, the pixie will come around. I use a black container. This seems to have better contrast for the food items.
thanks, I am going to try a dark colored feeding bin.
Rodents of any size are fattening. Use them as an occassional treat only. Good staple diet could include: earthworms, crickets, locusts, and roaches. Happy feeding!![]()
