My pothos plants have started having bright yellow patches on them and sometimes shriveled leaves. Do you think this could be related to the quality of light or to poor nutrients in the soil?
I use two Josh Frogs LED green gro lights and a tropical UVB bulb.
I have ABG soil with a bit of decaying leaf litter and the occasional frog poop I couldn't find to remove.
There are a lot of reasons plants turn yellow. Too much water, too little water. Too little light and too much light. Nutrient imbalance... lack of iron. Also too high a ph for the soil and/or water.
Just the light from a normal 15W fluorescent tube should be enough. We have a lot of different pothos all over the house and outside on the porches. They seem to tolerate a fair amount of bright sunlight. Though some that get lots of direct sun light all day long are slightly yellow. The ones just getting a few hours of bright light seem the best.
Ph might be the other thing I'd look at. I think they tolerate a low ph better than a high ph. But not certain.
R the leaves gpin Yellow right under basking light? Mine do that in that area. I just cut em off wit scissors. Also, I flood my False bottom to Half way dep, bout 2 x a month in winterheater dries air in House lot more > 1 x in summer. I MIST plants 1x a day real good. 2 x if remember in winter. My Pothos Grow like Mad. Thats it. U have great soil & I think U need to Hydrate em more.
R They the std green color Or variegated. Std green in my terrars love the H20. Variegated Not as Much But More wet than dry I keep em. Hope this helps. ;0))
Do you have a picture? Are the leaves splotchy at all? I have one that gets yellowed leaves if it is over-watered. But when it was root bound and not getting enough nutrients, the leaves were yellowing but took on a splotchy look.

The leaves have had mustard-yellow splotches on them, but I removed the worst ones. Mine may be root bound.
I got by for a little while by fertilizing it and trimming it up a bit. I use seachem flourish comprehensive (made for fish tanks) in my frog tanks for any fertilizing that I need to do.
