I found this when searching for a good gut load , http://bearded-dragons.livejournal.com/228270.html
I only feed super worms because that's all my frogs will eat. I use horned worms once in a while too, but they do NOT eat earthworms as they are too slippery and they literally can't catch them. Nor will they take it from tongs.
Anyways, any input based on that debate?

I've read a couple places that mealworms/superworms are hard for frogs to digest and can cause issues because of that? No idea how true that is but I've been avoiding them just in case.. just started a dubia roach colony for my pixie actually, they seem like one of the best feeders to me and Francis loves them, but they're apparently illegal in Canada? I also give him gut-loaded crickets now and then and have been meaning to get some night crawlers to try, he readily eats from tongs though (as well as on his own) so I don't have any problems there luckily.
I've also heard mixed emotions, my frogs only eat super worms and absolutely love them. So i'd like to stick with them.
Yeah dubia's are illegal here so that is unfortunate.
They need to legalize them lol
Why not feed crickets? Not only are superworms hard to digest, they're also high in fat and low in nutrition. They might love them, but it doesn't mean it is good for them. I do not do dubias because I'm allergic to them and my frogs have all thrived on gutloaded crickets. You have to watch horn worms because the high water content can sometimes cause diarrhea.

Just replied regarding superworms in the other thread.
With patience you can teach your frog to tong feed and once they do it doesn't matter nightcrawlers slippery or not.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
