    Default Normal??

Hi...new here...Grandkids are doing tadpoles. Bought some on line was told they are toads.. ya... they look like big frogs to me. This guy was the first to turn to a froglet. He does have beautiful web feet but likes being out of water most. I am guessing he's legs are not right?? Help this granny out what kind of frog? And what you think about legs?..thank you for your help

Do the toes have pads on them? If so that could be a gray tree frog (though those are pretty small) or a Cuban tree frog. It's hard to tell from the picture. Tree frogs feet sometimes bend in ways that look weird, but that doesn't look right to me. Maybe it's just the angle.

In that case, if there are subtle stripes that don't show up, maybe a chorus frog? Or a gray-brown cricket frog.

This is a green frog (Rana clamitans). They are often confused for bullfrogs but this one has a dorsalateral ridge. The big concern here is I think this frog is having hypocalcemia (low calcium). The frogs that I see do this almost always have hind leg weakness and then progressively become more lethargic and then develop front leg weakness and jaw weakness.

A few follow up questions for the OP:
They almost always die when it gets to this point. Has this frog been having spasms or shaking? This is another tell-tale sign.
How long ago has this guy metamorphosized?
