Well everyone! this is my Froggy, his name isssss.................. LUCAS!!!!! i love him So far, he Doesn't Bite, hehe, But, i feed him his first round of Crickets, So here is the Story, I was Gonna Get a Pacman Frog from petsmart. I needed to rescue this poor Darling, He Had the Right Soil and Stuff, he was the size of a quarter.. And He was in a plastic Box in the bottom of one of the reptiles cage, needless to Say When She took the top off.. the thing was dead.. he had Ultra Wet soil, no water in his Water Bowl and Not the right heat.. So we called 6 pet stores and finally found a petco that had one!! So we Went there and got Lucas! i felt 10x's More Comfortable buying from there, He Has the correct bedding, 2 waterbowls With moss around it, Was eating Good, was happy Healthy And as big as A pringles can top!! So far, he Loves His Habitat, i Just checked and he has moved From his log house, And moved to the Middle Of the tank, im so excited to Watch him as he grows! He is So dang Cute!!!! Well Ill Keep you updated, And thanks For everyones help!!!! Oh, and I took everyones Advice! I changed his bedding, I got him a Heat lamp, the Humidity stays up, if it doesnt, i cover Half the Top With a towel and it helps, it keeps his tank between 71-72, so I might have to get a Stronger Bulb its a UV light, with a Dimmer, So if it gets too hot, I can Dim it! im so Excited!! thanks for your Help!!

I'm always watching mine. I dont think he cares for me to be watching him, i bet if he could shoot me the middle finger when im messing with him he would. check out the grain style cricket food. I alsways see them on it. i used the lid to a gallon of water to put the stuff in. seems like they like it. Have you had any luck with the super worms or earth worms? mine doesnt really mess with the superworms

Well like I said, I JUST Got him Yesterday, So I only Fed Him Crickets, But i might Try either a Worm or Mealworm, i think He isnt Ready For Super worms yet... they said he Should Just be Ready to Start Eating the Smallest Feeder fish. But.. I just Dont know exactly How Much to Feed him, or if He will stop eating When he gets Hungry.

I was just informed of the parasites the feeder fish can carry and pass along to your frog. John informed me, i've read alot of things he's posted. Seems like he's in the know about the frogs. I'm going to take his advice and not feed my frog the fish. How much did you pay for your frog? total set up cost? mine was 20 $ but i've spent close to 150$ buying everything else. I'm thinking about ordering another frog, why not right?

Congrats on the new addition-Lucas looks very handsome in his new setup.

If your worried about crickets hiding, I would invest in some large feeding tongs. Then, you can use them to encourage the crickets to go towards Lucas (or feed him the crickets directly) and then you can watch him hunt and feed while keeping your fingers at a safe distance! And, yes, I would have to agree with staying away from feeder fish. Some of the parasites they carry can make Lucas an unhappy little frog. Keep us posted on how he is settling in!

Lucas is a beautiful little frog. Congratulations. These little guys aren't the most active pets but they will surprise you with their personality and charm. I love my pacman and I know you will too.

Well I wanted to tell everyone that he ate his first meal worm today.. It's In a superworm box.. I'm not sure if they are superworms.. I don't know how many I'm supposed to feed him.. So I fed him one to tie him over till later on I'm guessing he won't eat if he isn't hungry? I'm thinking a mealworm in the morning and 3 large crickets at night? Or is that too much?

They are nocturnal, so feed him at night.

    How big is he?

Well i fed him in the morning because He didn't eat anything that night because he ate all his small crickets.. He hasn't come out tonight.. So he must be full.. But he is about the size of the top of a pringles can. Maybe a tad bit smaller. But will he not eat if he isnt hungry?

Yes feeding with tongs is good. But remember to use BALL pointed tongs, you know the round ones? Here is my image scenario:
Frog lounges onto the tongs to eat the prey. The tongs are rectangular shaped and are made of metal-somewhat of a hazard. The animal could poke its eye out, or stab itself by accident.

Just a thought. If you cant find a ball pointed tongs then just get masking tape and use it on the point of the tongs so its not going to pose a hazard.

As for crickets, thats a good source of foods but dont forget to offer it stuff like earthworms, slugs, roaches, etc. Doesnt have to be the staple diet, but you know variety is the key to a healthy frog(or so is my opinion). Because with different prey items they get enough nutrients and vitamins and minerals and etc.

But I don't even know your pac-man! Maybe I could learn to love him, if we were to spend some quality time together, maybe watching the sun set or perhaps some horse back riding on the beach.

Horned frogs have amazingly large stomachs for their size, a froglet just morphed from a tadpole is already large enough to eat large crickets, in some cases even pinky mice. I would remove the hind legs from the crickets though just as a precaution. Lucas in particular I would say is already ready to accept pinky mice. After all, I have seen much smaller Horned frogs eat pinkys with no problem.

Pinkies are not a good food item for most, if not all, frogs. They should only be used sparingly.

:-/ Well... After I fed him one day, (One medium meal worm when he Came out, and then 5 large crickets before he went to bed) he has burried himself, and hasnt been out for the last 2 nights.. this makes it the 3rd.. I couldnt find him till a VERY lightly brushed the tongs across the soil under his house, and felt where he was hidden.. is this normal for them to hide like this For Days at a time?
