Hello! I purchased a frog from a pet store yesterday and the care sheet they gave me was for a waxy monkey frog. So I got the habitat all set up with a heat + UVB lamp, basking area, and relatively low humidity (50%), only to realize in my research today that my frog looks nothing like a waxy monkey frog.
There's a pic of my frog in the 2nd comment on this thread: http://www.frogforum.net/showthread.php?t=36670 (I'd repost it here, but I had a hard enough time trying to get it to post the first time). Is s/he a WTF? If so, what are his/her light/humidity/basking needs? Some sources I've found say they don't need a light, while others do recommend one, and I haven't been able to find anything that specifically states the humidity requirements. Also, do these guys like to bask the way waxies do, or should I keep things a bit cooler and moister?
That is absolutely a WTF, but everyone's answered on your other thread already. Luckily White's can deal with humidity low as 50%. Their natural habitats have a broad range of humidities. I'd go about 60%-70% but ten degrees lower or higher than both extremes should be okay too.
The light thing is controversial, but on balance I think it could be helpful to have a UVB bulb. If the tank is on the cooler side, I'd suggest a slightly warm basking spot. Just as long as the spot doesn't make the whole tank too hot.
Basking spot 85F and humidity 50-70%.5-7% UVB in most setups. Pretty similar to waxys, just slightly lower temps but a higher humidity.
How much did did you pay for it? Waxys go for much more than whites and so if you've been charged for a waxy tree frog then I'd get some of your money back! I'm not sure how much they'd be where you're at but here in the U.K. Whites are about £20 odd more or less depending on how old and what shop, but waxys are rare and probably several times this price.

Thanks so much to both of you for the response! To answer the question, I paid $20 for this frog.
That's a decent price for a white's in my experience. At least you weren't overcharged.
Good to hear! Well at least the pet shop knows the price for them, just not the frog it is! One of the most popular and recognised frogs sold... Incompetent sellers.
