Thread: Some questions of pacman.

    Default Some questions of pacman.

I heard that one of japanese breeders uses felt as substrates-floor materials- for his pacman and he said its much better to care than Coir. How do you think?
Second, i wonder that can i feed my pacman a spider? Actually, spiders in Korea have mild poison but i wonder my frog will be fine if he eat them.

That's a really nice albino you have there! I keep my baby pacman on aquarium filter foam like this. You can even stack it up and cut caves into it if you like. I've found it's really helpful for keeping them from eating the bedding on accident. I'm even thinking of converting my larger female to it.

IMO the best substrate would be something that would as natural to his real habitat in the wild as possible, they are burrowers. Not saying you and others cant keep them this way but cocofibre or something similar would probably be better in my eyes.

Ok! So I wonder how often should I change the cocofibre in pacman case.
In addition, how often they do poo? I never seen my frog's poo since i brought him to my home, about 3days ago.

The foam is intended for fish tanks, so it's perfectly safe as far as I know. I don't think coco fiber is bad or anything, I just think it's best to be careful with young babies since it doesn't take much for their intestines to stop up - remember that the dirt in their natural habitat isn't as loose as coco fiber is, so impction wouldn't be as much of a problem.

The only reason I'm considering it for my older frog is because she constantly drops her worms and ends up eating chunks of dirt.

I change the coco fiber about once every two weeks, but others may have a more strict schedule.

As far as poop, I wouldn't be too worried unless they look all weird and bloated. If that picture is pretty recent it looks fine to me.

The cocofibre is very easy for the frog to pass unless hes eating a lot of it, a little cocofibre on his food or even eating abit of it while striking shouldn't impact him. I have kept all mine on cocofibre from babies till now with no problems. They have to eat a nice bit of it to become impacted, its made to be loose and ground up very fine for this reason that's why its one of the safest and most recommended substrates. Not saying people that keep them on foam are doing anything wrong this is just my preferred way. For cleaning with the cocofibre when they are babies I clean it out every 2 weeks to be safe and once they are adults and are in a bigger enclosure I do once a month, you shouldn't let it go over the once a month.
