Hi, if by a spot lamp you mean basking bulb like for a bearded dragon or something no I wouldn't use it. But if you mean just a normal heat bulb or something like a ceramic heat emitter then ya that's fine, this is what most people use to heat there enclosures. And if your house doesn't drop below 75f in the winter this would be okay for a night time temp so you could just turn the lamp of at night. If it goes below that you may need a dimmer or something similar to help adjust the temps.
