I noticed my ACF has some sort of injury/sore/bruise on her lip, any idea what this may be? It looks like a bruise to me, I've purchased some maracyn 2 in case it is some kind of infection, but I'm not sure if it's an environmental issue, the other three frogs look perfectly fine.
Can't seem to get the image uploader to work but here's a link:

Hmm bummer these boards used to be a more active. I've been hoping that this clears up on its own, been doing daily 10% water changes. I'm also starting some epsom salts baths since I figure that's mostly harmless and couldn't hurt.
Really don't want to use maracyn 2 yet, I'm thinking that regular maracyn would have been a better choice anyways.
Has it changed in size? Looking at the picture, is there another spot under her other eye?
Yeah there appears to be something else going on under the other eye around his mouth but it's not as drastic.
I took another picture yesterday.

I wonder if he was kicked in the mouth fighting over an earthworm with a tankmate? I admit I didn't watch them closely last time I fed them and there's 4 frogs in this tank so it's possible two latched on to the same nightcrawler.
It looks a little better in your second picture. Is the frog acting and eating normal?
Yeah, no behavior change, still eating and active. I've placed her in a 20 gallon hospital tank and started treating with maracyn 2 just to be safe though.
Photo taken yesterday. It looks the same to me really.

I contacted Dr. Frye, he said to continue with the Maracyn 2 and give the frog 2 weeks to see if there's improvement so I'll stay the course on that plan.
If I make a suggestion, BACTINE is a good topical for minor injuries and infections, and safe for amphibians. I have had very good results. Just apply a small amount with a swab twice a day until cleared.

Looks like it's healing up, I think the maracyn 2 worked. Didn't try Bactine (though I did find some in my medicine cabinet!) because it appears to be working itself out. It may have never been infected to begin with, I'm not really sure.
I don't think it was water quality since my 40B is really over filtered and understocked. I've alway done 30% weekly water changes. Probably just a random injury from another frog's claws kicking him in the mouth.
I'm going to pick up a new API Freshwater test kit, because mine is quite old (but not expired), but I had zero ammonia and nitrite. I couldn't find my nitrate test kit but I really doubt nitrates were high enough to cause trouble, I have plants (and duckweed unfortunately) in this tank so nitrates are always under 20ppm.
Glad she is doing better.
Glad the frog is OK.
Thanks guys, looks like things are on the mend?

Looking much better.
Man, I am not sure what is up but the infection seems to still be present. The area looks more or less the same still and one of the frogs nostrils is reddened a bit.
I'm going to try putting some Baytril on it tonight and maybe do an epsom salt bath.. I am wondering if I should try a maracyn / maracyn 2 combo? Maybe I need to get Tetracycline?
The frog is still eating and acting normal so at least the quality of life is still there but this infection has been going on a month now and just doesn't appear to be getting better...
Swabbed him with some bactine gel and will continue to do so and did an epsom salt bath.
Here's some pics.

Does look the same, or even spreading. Could this be a virus of some sort? Where antibiotics wouldn't work.
I just don't know. I ordered some API medicine that contains tetracycline and I placed him back in a hospital tank and am going to administer maracyn 2 again since my tetracycline order may not arrive until the 14th.
From reading this page: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/biology/f...ease_site.html it appears to be some kind of bacterial infection, one oddly enough all frogs tend to survive (with live damage apparently..). At the very least the infection is in the same place.. (the snout/mouth).
The good news is at least, this guy is still eating and acting normally.
Glad he is still eating. Good luck! Thanks for the link to the article.
Oddness.. went to do a water change and add more tetracycline and my frog laid a ton of eggs....
