About raising temp for pacman

Hi guys, Im from Korea and Im very happy to talk with foreign people of same interesting.
I have a question, Im living in pretty north site in my country so in winter, its really cold. Im planning to bring one pacman frog, so I have to raise temp for my frog.
Can i use hot spot lamp for pacman? I heard that using electric pad is bad to pacman so im thinking using spot lamp to raise the temperature. Is it fine?
This is my first pacman and i have studied here about the frog. I really appreciate all of your informations. Thank you!

Hi, if by a spot lamp you mean basking bulb like for a bearded dragon or something no I wouldn't use it. But if you mean just a normal heat bulb or something like a ceramic heat emitter then ya that's fine, this is what most people use to heat there enclosures. And if your house doesn't drop below 75f in the winter this would be okay for a night time temp so you could just turn the lamp of at night. If it goes below that you may need a dimmer or something similar to help adjust the temps.

If your going to use a bulb at night it should be a red a bulb or a ceramic heat emitter. They need it to be as dark as possible or they wont wake up to eat, they will think its still daytime and these guys are very nocturnal.

Really? But i saw that most breeders give their frogs foods in daytime! I thought most people feed their frogs at daytime..

Most people feed there pacmans at night because this is when they eat. Breeders will feed during the day because that's when they are in there facility were they are breeding and they are feeding thousands of tadpoles and babies not just a personal collection so they don't want to be there all night. Pacmans like to sleep during the day and be active at night. And I seen your other post and noticed you have a albino so you have to use a red bulb or CHE for heat, anything bright will hurt his eyes.

I agree, if possible it is best to feed at night when they will eat food straight away, but some frogs even nocturnals will come active soon as food is present. The best option would be a ceramic, they can probably see red it's just that it doesn't produce the full spectrum of light and so not daylight, not as disturbing. I wouldn't imagine a normal household bulb would disturb them, minimal UVA is produced and albinos are sensitive to UV. You could probably even use a UVB with albinos, you'd just need to make sure there's plenty of cover so it gets to decide whether it wants to be in light or not. Just my opinion, but either way make sure the frog does have a day and night time cycle.
